Coming from Isabella's Tower, you emerge onto High Street and the Road to Coney Island. You will see the Erasmus School to your left.
The Erasmus Smith institution and was established in 1820. In 1836 there were 67 Protestants and 81 Catholics at the school 73 of whom were males and 75 females. A very progressive institution in its time.
One of the school's most important pupils was Thomas Hunter who was the founder of one of America's top female colleges, the Hunter college in New York. Today the school is run as a function room for various events
